Dan Keller
Independent Technical Consultant

I provide technical consulting and training to corporate clients. The consulting activities include things like writing programs, building databases, administering computer systems, and setting up web sites. The training activities include writing and teaching courses on these subjects to the employees of those corporations.

Since I am essentially a one-man shop (though I do have a network of friends who subcontract (i.e. do the work) for me), I wear many hats: salesman, manager, programmer, teacher, system administrator, bookkeeper, author. Sometimes I think it would be a relief to have a steady paycheck and a well-defined job. But the way I do it now, I can make as much (or as little) money as I want (it just depends on how hard I work!) and I don't have to put up with a boss (though sometimes a client can be harsher than any boss.)

Running my own little business is a lot of work and a lot of stress but I've been doing it for eighteen years and probably couldn't handle a real job anymore.
